STROUD CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH BEDFORD STREET STROUD , GL5 1AY

Stroud Congregational Church is a grade 11* listed building built in 1837 and is celebrating it’s 180th year in the centre of the town. For the first time we are joining the Heritage Open Days co-ordinated nationally by the National Trust.
This unique Chapel situated on the first floor is fitted with oak galleries all round and is approached from the street by a handsome winding staircase within the tower, modelled on the Tower of Winds of ancient Athens.
To reach the Chapel the circular stair must be climbed. This requires some physical effort and in recent years a stair lift has been added, but those ascending are rewarded by an impressive interior.
Music will be played on the pipe organ from 2-4pm both afternoons.
Refreshments for sale are available in the hall on the ground floor.
